Smoothies are a great way to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet. The recipe book explains how certain carotenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin, are important to ocular health and support the eye’s macula.
EDUCATE YOUR PATIENTS
In addition to delicious recipes, the book contains information about the foods we eat.
- Dark chocolate or cocoa contain polyphenols. These are the antioxidants that help to support cholesterol and blood sugar levels and can boost heart and vascular health.
- Foods rich in vitamin A, such as orange and yellow vegetables and fruits, are important for maintaining healthy eyesight, skin and immune function.
- Blue and purple fruits and vegetables like blueberries, blackberries and eggplant are rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins. These antioxidants are important for maintaining healthy brain function and protecting against age-related cognitive decline.
