Children in the Bronx Receive Free Eye Exams and Glasses Thanks to the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, LensCrafters & The Fresh Air Fund

With the school year in full swing, free vision clinic helps ensure students have access to the glasses they need to succeed in the classroom

In the U.S., one in four students has an undiagnosed vision issue. To overcome this, LensCrafters optometrists and team members recently came together to provide free eye exams and glasses to under-resourced children in the Bronx. The clinic was organized by LensCrafters and the North America affiliate of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation.

ABOUT THE CLINIC

The vision clinic was held on Sept. 25 – 27 at Rev. T Wendell Foster Recreation Center in partnership with The Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Junior. The clinic helped address unresolved vision problems for more than 150 students who may otherwise lack access to eye exams and glasses. Leveraging the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation’s proven clinic model and manufacturing capabilities, most participants in need of glasses received their newly prescribed, quality eyewear on-site.
LensCrafters is deeply committed to giving back to the communities it serves and has a long history of enabling its optometrists and team members to be part of this life-changing work. Over the last decade, LensCrafters has proudly helped raise over $25 million for the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation through customer donations.
