Each grant recipient will receive full conference registration and $500 in travel grant funds. Grant recipients will be required to arrange for their own lodging but can take advantage of a special conference room rate offered by Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista South.
To apply for the grant, students/residents must fill out an application form, which includes a 1–3-page essay/paper discussing their interest in neurorehabilitation and/or the values and principles of working as an interdisciplinary team with other professionals who provide rehabilitative services to individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury.

To be eligible for the grant program, recipients must attend the full meeting beginning. Grant recipients will have the opportunity to attend presentations in addition to being assigned duties throughout the meeting.
NORA membership is free to students currently enrolled in a certified college of optometry, allied health profession, education, and rehabilitation program or in an optometric residency or a fellowship program. “We encourage students/residents from Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and other specialties to join NORA and apply for the grant,” says NORA president Charles Shidlofsky, OD.
NOW is also now accepting abstracts for consideration for its 2024 General Conference, September 19-22 in Kissimmee, Florida.
NORA members and non-members can submit an abstract for consideration on or before June 15, 2024. Student submissions are also welcome. Due to academic year timelines, students, and incoming/outgoing residents may also request an extension for the submission window. Extension requests must also be received by June 15, 2024.
Posters will be selected based on novelty of topic and scientific merit; presenters will be notified of their selection by July 15, 2024. Completed abstracts will be due no later than August 31, 2024. Posters will be on display at the NORA General Conference and published in Optometry & Visual Performance.
The Student/Resident judged by the NORA student programs committee and committee chair to have the best research project, poster or published paper in the area of neuro-optometric rehabilitation will be eligible to receive the Gus Forkiotis Student Award and a check in the amount of $500.
