Review of Myopia Management Named Official Media Sponsor of International Myopia Conference

Review of Myopia Management (RMM) has been named the Official Media Sponsor of the upcoming International Myopia Conference (IMC).

To be held in September of 2024 in Hainan Island, China, the 19th IMC will be hosted by the Aier Institute of Optometry and Vision Science, Aier Eye Hospital Group. The event will be chaired by Zhikuan Yang MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology, Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, China. The executive chair of the conference is Weizhong (Bruce) LAN, MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology, Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, China.

“Myopia has become a global public health problem, drawing increasing attention from academic circles and government agencies, including the World Health Organization. In September 2024, the Aier Eye Hospital Group will host the 19th International Myopia Conference in Hainan, China,” said Dr. LAN. “We expect to bring together scientists, clinical experts, and policy makers to collaboratively seek solutions for myopia prevention and control. By encouraging cutting-edge thinking and intense scientific discussions, IMC is also expected to promote knowledge and communication between academia and industry. The event provides a platform to share new insights into the interventions and solutions to arrest the arising epidemic of myopia worldwide.”

Review of Myopia Management will work with the IMC to promote the event to eye care professionals and vision scientists across the United States and globally. The groups plan to collaborate on soliciting abstracts for the conference, encouraging attendance, and publishing coverage of the event before, during, and after it takes place.

Review of Myopia Management is a leading online publication designed to help eye care professionals maximize the emerging field of myopia management. Since its inception, RMM has remained committed to producing and sharing the most up-to-date information and educational tools for eye care professionals. The online publication has grown to be the leading source of clinical, practice management, and research information on myopia management.

Review of Myopia Management is honored to work with Professor Weizhong (Bruce) LAN and the IMC Organizing Committee to ensure all the leading vision and basic scientists, clinical experts, and policymakers in the field of myopia contribute to this important event,” said RMM’s Chief Medical Editor, Dr. Dwight Akerman. “The International Myopia Conference will provide a unique opportunity to address the certainty that myopia is the most significant eye health threat of the 21st century.”

The International Myopia Conference will begin accepting conference registrations and abstract submissions January 2024.
