May is Allergy and Asthma Awareness Month. Almost 300 U.S. cities face exposure to nine or more significant grass allergies, and many are also dealing with frequent mowing and fast-spreading pollen.


Lawn Love analyzed the 500 biggest U.S. cities using eight metrics tied to grass pollen exposure, allergen severity and access to allergen care.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Chicago (No. 81) and Philadelphia (No. 12) each contend with 15 significant grass allergens, triple the count in San Antonio (No. 82) and nearly four times that of Fort Worth (No. 210), with four.
16 of the 25 most populous U.S. cities landed in the top half of the ranking, but Boston (No. 471) stood out at the other end, finishing in the bottom 10 with 0 measurable grass allergens.
Among the 25 largest cities, Boston (No. 471) and Denver (No. 421) have the highest average summer wind speeds, a major pollen spreader, while Dallas (No. 121) and Nashville (No. 73) lead in summer mowing frequency.
