GlassesUSA.com has launched a new vision education and research hub featuring national survey findings, educational resources and guidance from Norman A. Saffra, MD, FAAO, principal medical advisor for the company.
The 2026 State of Glasses Wearers in America is based in part on an online survey conducted by GlassesUSA.com in June 2026 among 519 U.S. adults ages 18 to 80 who wear prescription glasses daily.
Among respondents, nearly 70% said they continued wearing their glasses despite suspecting their prescription had changed. Another 79.4% reported symptoms associated with screen use, while 56.1% said cost had caused them to delay getting new glasses.
The survey also found that 45.9% of respondents wait until they experience vision problems before getting an eye exam, 21.6% are not confident that their current prescription still meets their needs and 48.9% have attributed potential vision-related symptoms to stress or tiredness.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES ADDRESS COMMON QUESTIONS
The new hub combines the survey findings with videos and written resources addressing common questions about prescriptions, eye exams, lenses, screen-related symptoms and purchasing prescription eyewear.
Dr. Saffra appears in a series of educational videos covering topics including prescription glasses, contact lens prescriptions, progressive lenses, prescription sunglasses, lens indexes and vision correction for sports. Additional guides address reading an eyeglass prescription, measuring pupillary distance, choosing frame size and understanding lens materials.
“For me, even a routine visit to update a glasses prescription is a chance to check the overall health of the eye,” Dr. Saffra says. “Vision can change so gradually in one eye that people don’t even notice, because the other eye compensates for it.”
He adds that routine visits can also provide opportunities to identify signs of eye disease and, in some cases, systemic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
The full survey findings, educational videos and additional resources are available through GlassesUSA.com’s 2026 State of Glasses Wearers in America hub.
