“I’m incredibly proud of the thousands of VSP employees whose dedication and sense of care are what drive these programs,” said VSP Vision President and CEO Michael Guyette. “I’m also grateful for the members, clients and doctors whose engagement with VSP makes all of this possible. This year, we will continue to build on the work of the past as we mark our 70th anniversary, a milestone that serves to remind us all about the potential we can achieve together.”

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2024 IMPACT REPORT

Accelerating Health Equity:

  • Provided 252,000 people in need with access to free vision care in 2024 alone, bringing the total number of people helped through VSP Vision Eyes of Hope® to more than 4.3 million since the program’s inception.
  • Donated 201,000 pairs of eyewear (2.9 million to date).
  • Invested $695,000 in relief to support communities affected by disasters like Hurricanes Helene and Milton ($21.4 million to date).
  • Invested $335,000 in scholarships and grants to support students and help advance the future of optometry (more than $4 million to date).
  • Launched the Future Leaders Academy, a professional development program for recent graduates and early-career optometrists, which helps develop leadership skills for long-term growth.

Advancing Sustainability:

  • Exceeded the company’s goal to produce 50% of eyewear frames from sustainable, recycled and biobased materials by 2025—achieving 53%, a 61% increase from 2023.
  • Switched to sustainable demo lenses, which are made from 100% recycled post-consumer content and GRS-certified.
  • Eliminated the use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) nose pads, commonly used in the eyewear industry, across all Marchon brands.
  • Implemented greener packaging solutions by using polybags that are made from 100% recycled post-consumer content and GRS-certified, diverting 31 tons of plastic from landfills (66 tons since 2023).

Empowering Inclusion:

  • Improved onboarding for new employees, strengthened collaboration among employee groups, and enhanced manager support—leading to stronger engagement and retention rates 17% above industry standards and helping to secure the Training Magazine APEX Award and Great Place to Work Certification™.
  • Collaborated with VSP® Business Resource Groups (BRGs), which prioritize inclusion and have a total membership of 2,460 employees, to inform business decisions and deliver meaningful solutions for members. This led to the launch of the “Special Fit” page on Eyeconic, the VSP Vision online eyewear store, to support those with Down syndrome and anyone who needs a large fit, small fit, low bridge or high prescription, helping to make vision possible for all types of faces.

Through VSP Hearts at Work, the company’s employee giving and volunteering platform, employee volunteerism rose by 41% to 16,234 volunteer hours and employees helped raise $506,000 for nearly 1,500 nonprofits. The company also hosted its second annual VSP Volunteer Month in April 2024, where 459 employee volunteers logged 2,197 hours to support a wide variety of charitable causes, and invested $200,000 to support children’s literacy during Q4 2024.
