As a behavioral optometrist, Samantha Slotnick, OD, of Scarsdale, New York, has dedicated her practice to helping patients of all ages take an active role in the use of their own visual abilities. She especially enjoys finding ways to communicate with children, often with a mix of drawings and analogies. She has found that children respond best to guidance when they get to be a part of the discussion. Then, glasses become a choice, not a challenge.
Dr. Slotnick worked closely with illustrator Daniel W. Miller to create “But MOMMY, I Can SEE!” The illustrations alone tell the tale, suitable for “children of all ages.” The book includes “Find a Doctor” resources around the globe, to help children benefit from the learning-related approach to vision care offered by Behavioral/Developmental Optometrists.
Join Sylvia on her journey with her glasses. It’s love at first “sight,” but when the excitement of the accessory wears off, how is she supposed to remember to use her glasses? Especially when she notices she can “see” without them?
