Carissa Dunphy explains what skills opticians bring
Carissa Dunphy

For several years, Carissa Dunphy, ABOC, FNAO, has been making connections in the optical industry as founder of Optician Now, which provides resources and meaningful advice to colleagues. During the early days of the COVID-19 shutdowns, she launched a collection of curated optical-related items that Dunphy has hand-selected for her audience.

Dunphy also wanted to make the items more personal and custom, so she began designing her own optical gear that individuals in the industry would buy for themselves. “I always have everyone in the eye industry in mind from the administration to scribes, technicians, opticians and doctors,” she says.

Today, her new shop features 9 simple designs that she created. “While some are colorful, and others more classic, I kept the designs simple and mostly spectacle-prominent,” Dunphy says. The stand-out, best-selling design is the adorable puppy wearing sunglasses,  which was commissioned by Jessica Curnew, The Octician.
