One-Stop Optical Gift Shop: OpticalGifts.com by Carissa Dunphy

2020 Women In Optometry holiday gift guide

This story was originally published in our Women In Optometry 2020 Gift Guide.

For several years, Carissa Dunphy, ABOC, FNAO, has been making connections in the optical industry as founder of Optician Now, which provides resources and meaningful advice to colleagues. Her newest online initiative was launched during the early days of the COVID-19 shutdowns, and OpticalGifts.com was born as a collection of curated optical-related items that Dunphy has hand-selected for her audience.

Dunphy chooses a wide variety of options for men and women, gifts and items that individuals in the industry would buy for themselves. “I always have everyone in the eye industry in mind from the administration to scribes, technicians, opticians and doctors,” she says. She chose Amazon for her platform, since Amazon accounts are broadly used, and she also considers seller ratings and reviews in addition to reasonable shipping times. Dunphy adds that she is in the process of adding more items made by people in the industry and that are more personally crafted and customizable.
