For Earth Day, we’re highlighting eye care practices that bring sustainability and natural beauty into focus. From spaces that repurpose reclaimed wood and furniture to those that embrace calming green palettes and organic textures, these designs reflect a deeper commitment to the environment—and to creating spaces that feel as good as they look.
Lauren Foley, OD, designed Eyes of North Scottsdale to reflect her Arizona surroundings. Her husband, Brandon, built custom optical tables using recycled pallet wood. Other tables and shelves are made from reclaimed pallet wood that the couple found while driving around their neighborhood.
Julianne Koch, OD, brought her love for books and sustainability into every corner of Novel Eye Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
Annie Curttright, OD, MEd, scoured Craiglist and Facebook Marketplate for unique pieces—including 100-year-old light fixtures and vintage furniture—when she opened a second location of Mt. Hood Eye Care in Gresham, Oregon. The practice also features wood from local trees, recycled paint and repurposed wooden pallets.
Ashley Szalkowski, OD, filled Guild Eyewear Studio in East Aurora, New York, with green and wood furniture and tons of plants.
