Eyedeology Eye Care Brings Luxury and Personal Touch to Orlando

Amita Patel, OD, opened Eyedeology Eye Care and Optical Boutique in 2024, crafting an upscale, inviting space in Orlando’s Dr. Phillips neighborhood. Just minutes from Disney Springs, the boutique reflects the area’s mix of old and new money. Dr. Patel envisioned more than just a clinic; she created a space where patients could experience comprehensive care while exploring luxury frames and benefit from cutting-edge technology.

After almost 15 years of working in various modes of practice, Dr. Patel wanted more out of her day-to-day. “I wasn’t growing,” she says. “Patients would see me once as a fill-in doctor or for emergencies, but I never got to see them long-term. I missed making those personal connections.”

A fellow optometrist’s encouragement and guidance from iCare Advisors and Vision Source gave Dr. Patel the tools and confidence she needed. “An OD nearby told me that if he could do it, so could I,” Dr. Patel says. “Something about that struck a chord in me.” By 2021, she was actively laying the groundwork for Eyedeology Eye Care. “Our mission is to provide personalized and compassionate care while focusing on early detection, prevention and education.”

A CUSTOM VISION

With the foundation of her new office already poured, Dr. Patel took full advantage of a blank slate to design her dream space with help from Karina K Designs. She worked with just over 1,500 square feet, incorporating two exam lanes, a contact lens room, a pretesting room, her office and an on-site lab. Her practice sits alongside complementary businesses like a nail spa, a lash lounge and various cafes, bringing in plenty of foot traffic. She’s also just a 20-minute drive from home.

Dr. Patel infused her aesthetic vision into every detail. “I wanted a practice that didn’t feel so stuffy,” she says. “I don’t want my patients to just come in for an exam and leave; I want them to want to look around, try on frames and have a more fulfilling experience.”

The contact lens room

Her office features warm wood accents, sleek gold and marble finishes and bold choices like wallpapered walls in her office and contact lens room. She was totally hands-on during the process, from testing out different shades of gold spray paint to visiting Floor & Décor to pick out flooring.

The front desk and exam lane countertops are quartz, which is elegant yet easy to clean. The exam lanes feature laminate flooring designed to look like wood. A coffee bar up front gives patients beverage options as they browse.

White Ikea frame boards and storage cabinets give her lots of space for her designer frames, including Gucci, Tom Ford, Maui Jim, ECO, Ray Ban, Yves Saint Laurent and more. She selected sturdy-yet-affordable furniture from Wayfair and Amazon to bring her vision to life while staying within budget. Those savings allowed her to design custom sliding barn doors. “They’re not hollow—they’re heavy and help with sound dampening,” she says.

Her attention to detail extended to the chandeliers above the front desk. When a decorative bolt broke during installation, she embraced the look and modified all the lights to match. “It’s all about adjusting as you go,” she says.

EQUIPPED FOR EXCELLENCE

She offers high-tech care with a Topcon Maestro OCT, a CA-800 corneal analyzer, an iCare tonometer, a DC-4 anterior segment camera, a CV-5000S digital phoropter and a Neksia lens finishing system. Dr. Patel and her optician handle in-house edging for seamless service.

As a high myope herself, Dr. Patel specializes in myopia management, keratoconus and scleral lenses. Looking ahead, she plans to introduce an eye spa to expand her services further. “I’m treating patients the way I’ve always wanted to,” she says. “I may still be tired after a long day, but I’m so much happier.”

Outside of work, Dr. Patel cherishes spending time with friends and family, traveling, cooking and exploring new cuisines as a self-proclaimed foodie. She also enjoys shopping and indulging in her love of fashion. Her Fridays are reserved for family movie nights, while her free time often includes Bollywood dance classes and charity work with Brown Girls on a Mission. With her practice flourishing, she feels poised for the next chapter, both professionally and personally.
