Eyes were a common topic at the Hung family dinner table. With a father who built a research-focused career in optometry and a brother who followed the same path, Justine Hung, OD, carried that family influence into her own career. “I knew I wanted to be an optometrist since elementary school,” she says.
A 2013 graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Hung didn’t initially set out to own a practice. She explored a variety of retail roles, gaining valuable experience and a sense of the kind of environment she’d want to create for her own patients. It wasn’t until her husband, Albert, encouraged her vision that practice ownership felt possible. “In 2018, we decided to settle our roots in Austin and got to work launching my first practice,” she says. Together they opened Resolution Eyecare just north of downtown Austin, Texas, a comprehensive eye care practice guided by the belief that “You deserve better eye care.”
EXPANDING THE VISION

At the time, expansion wasn’t part of the plan. “We didn’t anticipate to grow so quickly,” Dr. Hung says. The opportunity arose in 2023 when they found two office spaces being sold as a pair—one in Tech Ridge and one in Round Rock. As previous retail optical offices, major renovations weren’t necessary, so converting them into optometry clinics was relatively straightforward and budget-friendly. Still, cosmetic upgrades were a major task that the duo largely tackled on their own. “A lot of trial and error went into designing the two new spaces,” she says. “But doing it ourselves has made it so rewarding.”
Today, Resolution Eyecare operates across three locations: the original Austin office and two clinics in Tech Ridge and Round Rock, both opened in 2024. All three are within 20 minutes of each other, each roughly 2,000 square feet and built to accommodate three exam rooms. Dr. Hung floats between the clinics as she hires new staff and expands services.
ONE BRAND, THREE STYLES
Back when designing the original Austin office, Dr. Hung blended modern Japanese and Scandinavian style—simple, serene and textured with clean lines that feel functional and thoughtfully detailed. This concept was crafted by their friends at Mulberry Architects with warm woodwork threaded through every space. Dr. Hung especially loves the set of wooden slats above the front desk, a Japandi focal point she describes as her design splurge.

She carried that aesthetic into the Tech Ridge and Round Rock clinics to keep the Resolution Eyecare brand cohesive and recognizable. Lush greenery at each entrance welcomes patients and sets a calm tone the moment they arrive.
The floor plans are intentionally consistent. Optical displays near the entrance draw patients in, while exam rooms are tucked behind the front desk to create a natural flow from greeting to care. “Our focus is full-scope optometry, but I love that each new location lets us bring something new to the table,” Dr. Hung says.

That differentiation shows in Tech Ridge, which is centered around its eye spa. The salon-style waiting area feels like a true spa with tea, coffee and cookies,” she says. “In addition to comprehensive testing, the eye spa includes advanced treatments such as IPL and radiofrequency.” The Round Rock clinic, farther north, is designed for a family-oriented community. “As people get married and start families, they often move north from downtown Austin to the suburbs. Round Rock reflects that and was designed to be family friendly.”
GROWING WITH PURPOSE
Looking ahead, Dr. Hung hopes to continue refining and expanding Resolution Eyecare’s offerings while maintaining the patient-centered feel that’s guided her from the start. “We don’t want to stray too far away from our bread and butter—comprehensive eye care—but each specialty we add gives the location a distinct focus and special touch.”
