Discover the transformative power of natural light in eye care practices. This month’s design compilation showcases ways to incorporate natural lighting to help create a bright and inviting environment for patients and staff alike.
Pretty Basra, PhD, BSc (Hons), purchased Edward & Walker Opticians in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, after she went in for a job interview. Then, she gave it a total design overhaul, including using the floor-to-ceiling front window as extra lighting to display frames.
Christine Zeifert, OD, transformed a former ice cream shop into Zeifert Eye Care in Highland Park, Illinois. The entire front wall is comprised of southwest-facing windows, giving the space natural sunlight for most of the day.
Tiffany Chen, OD, and Deborah Wei, OD, joined forces to open Modern Vue Eyecare in Plano, Texas. With large windows at the front, the duo decided to incorporate bright walls to play off the sunlight. Plus, greenery thrives throughout the space.
Tammy Richert, OD, relocated Eyecare West to a larger space two blocks away. The standalone space now features windows on two of the optical walls and a drive-thru for contact lens pickups.
