Bee Careful
A doctor in Taiwan found four sweat bees in a 29-year-old woman’s eyes. They apparently got in there while she was cleaning a relative’s grave. The bees look for salt—and found it in her tears. An entomologist said it could have been worse—as these bees’ stings are relatively benign. “She couldn’t have asked for a better bee to sting her in her eye.” Click here to read more.

An article in Nature highlights how “anything that affects a person’s brain—whether it be a disease or a blow to the head—therefore has a strong chance of affecting their sight.” The article talks about known work on concussions and multiple sclerosis, adding that retinal mapping could yield clues in diagnosing schizophrenia.
