Treehouse Eyes announced the appointment of Tony Sommer as Chief Executive Officer.

Co-founder and current CEO Matt Oerding will step down from his role as CEO and continue serving as Board Chairman, where he will remain involved in the company’s long-term strategic direction and mission advancement.

MEET THE TEAM

Sommer joins Treehouse Eyes with more than 25 years of leadership experience across optometry, consumer goods and healthcare. He has held senior leadership roles at organizations including CooperVision, Alcon, Bausch + Lomb and Visioneering Technologies (VTI). He joins Treehouse Eyes to lead the company’s next phase of growth as it continues expanding access to specialty pediatric myopia care through both its clinic platform and partnerships with eye care professionals nationwide.

“Treehouse Eyes has built something incredibly special—a mission-driven organization that has helped change the trajectory of pediatric vision care,” said Sommer. “The company has established itself as a leader in pediatric myopia management through clinical excellence, innovation and an unwavering commitment to families and partner doctors. I’m honored to join the organization at this stage and excited to work with the team to continue scaling our impact.”

Founded in 2016, Treehouse Eyes has helped thousands of children access evidence-based treatment designed to slow the progression of nearsightedness. The company operates specialty pediatric myopia clinics while also supporting eye care practices nationwide through its myopia management operating platform.

“Helping build Treehouse Eyes alongside our incredible team has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career,” said Oerding. “What began as a mission to improve children’s long-term vision and eye health has grown into a company that is helping shape the future of pediatric myopia care. I remain deeply committed to the  mission and look forward to continuing to support Treehouse Eyes as Board Chairman while Tony leads the organization into its next chapter of growth and operational maturity.”

Oerding added that Sommer’s leadership experience, operational background and  alignment with the company’s mission made him the right leader for Treehouse Eyes’ next phase. “Tony brings the leadership capabilities, operational discipline and people-centered approach needed to help Treehouse Eyes continue scaling while staying deeply connected to our mission and culture,” said Oerding.
