2020 Women’s Leadership Conference – Keynote

 

Fostering the Energy for Leadership:  Keynote speaker Shemeka Brathwaite will kick off the program with a high energy discussion on a passionate, inspired workforce, it begins with you: the leader.  Learn to “Go from from worried, overwhelmed and worn out to a ‘W.O.W. Factor’ that exceeds service expectations.”  Shemeka specializes in training professional women on how to achieve peak performance, so they can have an energized executive presence and deliver impact.

Shemeka Brathwaite is a professional speaker, poet and educator. Her high-energy messages stem from her spoken-word performing artist background. She has performed in open mic venues such as the Nuyorican Poets Café, The Afrikan Poetry Theater, The Poets’ House, and in the choreopoem stage play “The Poets’ Testimony.” Her award-winning poem “Virtuous Woman” is published in the academic anthology entitled Our Stories, Ourselves: The EmBODYment of Women’s Literacy and her upcoming poetry book Roses From My Garden Vol. 1.

Shemeka began her career as a technical designer, where she worked with international production teams to engineer the blueprints of the garments of some of America’s top fashion design labels. Since then, Shemeka transitioned into higher education administration to serve in a variety of leadership roles. As a peak performance strategist, Shemeka specializes in training professional women on how to achieve peak performance, so they can have an energized executive presence and deliver impact.

Shemeka combines her broad professional experience with a Master’s degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in Fashion Design. Shemeka was certified by New York University as a life coach and an assessment practitioner with the Myers-Briggs® Company. She is an alumna of the Harvard University’s Women in Education Leadership program.

A community advocate and philanthropist, Shemeka has joined forces with leading nonprofit organizations as an active member on local, regional, national and international transformative programmatic initiatives. Professionally, she is an active member of the National Speakers Association, Global Speakers Federation and Women Speakers Association.

Shemeka recharges herself through singing, golfing and eating fresh baked chocolate chip cookies served with a cold glass of milk. She resides in the Greater New York City area with her husband and two sons.
